Seattle artist Mary Coss met scientist Roger Fuller at a “speed-dating” event put on by the Museum of Northwest Art a few years back to cultivate artist-scientist collaboration. The two clicked and formed a partnership that would lead to a series of immersive art shows centering around the themes of climate change, science communication, and the effects of increasing salinity in the Skagit Estuary. Their goal was to create bridges between the science and art communities and audience-citizens of the Pacific Northwest.
