After 5 seasons, 75+ short screenplays read, and 130+ films programmed, DCFF has met so many awesome filmmakers, artists and writers. Laura Checkoway – 2018 DCFF Director, Edith+Eddie
Laura is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and New York Times Best Selling author with a background in journalism and investigative reporting. Her 2018 film, Edith+Eddie screened at festivals across the world, and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Documentary Short. The film is now available on iTunes. Learn more about Laura!
Mark Helenowski & Kevin Pang – 2015 DCFF Directors, For Grace
Mark and Kevin co-directed the award-winning film, For Grace, which played at dozens of film festivals, and was purchased by Netflix for global distribution. Curtis Duffy, the documentary’s subject, has continued his culinary career and served as a guest judge for the 2018 finale of Top Chef.
